BGI4L & BGI4CP High-Efficiency Respirable Dust Cyclones (PM4)

The BGI4L (Aluminum) and BGI4CP (Conductive Plastic) are the industry standard for lightweight, high-precision respirable dust sampling. Operating at 2.2 LPM, these cyclones follow the ISO 7708/CEN respirable convention, providing a perfect PM4 cut-point to match the particle deposition curve of the human lung. They offer a superior alternative to older 1.7 LPM nylon cyclones, providing higher flow stability and better sensitivity.

Key Benefits

  • Material Versatility: Available in Aluminum (BGI4L) for rugged durability or Conductive Plastic (BGI4CP) for a lightweight, static-dissipative option.

  • Enhanced Sensitivity: Operates at 2.2 LPM, allowing for a larger sample volume than legacy cyclones, improving detection limits for low-concentration contaminants.

  • Zero Electrostatic Loss: The BGI4CP utilizes specialized conductive plastic to prevent particle loss to the cyclone walls, a common failure point in standard nylon cyclones.

  • Field-Proven Design: Widely referenced in epidemiological studies for accurate respirable mass measurements.

Technical Overview

These cyclones serve as pre-selectors for personal monitoring, removing non-respirable particles (>4 µm) to protect the filter sample. The design adheres strictly to the ACGIH/ISO/CEN Respirable Convention. The choice of 2.2 LPM flow rate aligns with modern personal pumps, optimizing battery life while ensuring sufficient sample accumulation for gravimetric or chemical analysis (e.g., Crystalline Silica).

Typical Use Cases

  • Occupational Hygiene: Routine personal monitoring for "Not Otherwise Classified" (PNOC) respirable dust.

  • Silica Compliance: Meeting stricter OSHA/EU limit values for Respirable Crystalline Silica (RCS).

  • Pharmaceutical Manufacturing: Monitoring exposure to potent active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).

  • General Construction: Dust exposure assessments during cutting, grinding, or sanding.

Why Choose This Cyclone?

The BGI4L/BGI4CP series eliminates the "static bias" often found in cheaper plastic cyclones. By using verified conductive materials and a validated 2.2 LPM flow rate, these cyclones provide data you can trust for legal compliance. Whether you need the unbreakable toughness of aluminum or the featherweight comfort of conductive plastic, this series delivers the same precise aerodynamic cut.
